Armband worn by member of Einsatztrupp

Letter sent to Hanna Gruenwald's father explaining steps necessary for immigration to the United States

The Gruenwald family, of Vienna, Austria, were in doubt about escaping from the Nazis almost until the last moment.  Within a couple of days they received letters from two different rescue agencies, one telling them that their application for visas had been rejected and the second, from another agency, telling them that it had been approved.  Fortunately, they managed to leave, although some of their relatives were not as lucky and perished in the Holocaust.
