Patch worn by Saul Tyrkeltaub of Lodz, Poland in a Nazi concentration camp.
Saul Tyrkeltaub saved this patch with his identity number along with other documents when World War II ended. People interred in Nazi concentration camps were identified by a number instead of by their names. They needed to memorize their numbers in order to respond during roll call or when spoken to by a Nazi officer.
