Additions to "A Living Memorial"

We observed the 5th anniversary of the opening of the permanent exhibit at Hatikvah in October 2009 by adding nine new stories to the local section of the exhibit. During the summer Hatikvah volunteers interviewed survivors and assisted children of survivors in writing their family’s stories.
The new additions tell of extraordinary circumstances that people had to endure just to survive, of their strength and courage to overcome obstacles no human should ever have to encounter and of their efforts to make a new life after the war ended.
As time passes, it becomes more important to document the stories of as many eyewitnesses as possible so that the lessons of the Holocaust will be remembered.
We are grateful to the following survivors for sharing their stories: Marc Futter; Walter Lachman; Sigmund Tobias; and Curt Warner and to the following for sharing their family’s stories: Michael Bart (Leizer Bart and Zenia Lewinson-Bart); Pearl-Anne Margalit ( the Kur and Rotholz families); Elizabeth Rome (the Schaumberg family); Larry Smolarz ( the Dawidowicz and Smolarz families).
